CALLING ALL AGENTS.

THE WORLD NEEDS YOU!

HOW CAN WE DECODE TRAUMA TO DETECT THE SIGNS AND PROMOTE HEALING?

LAUNCH MISSION

AGENTS, IN THE U.S. ALONE, 7 OUT OF 10 PEOPLE HAVE FACED SOME SORT OF TRAUMA.

Traumatic experiences such as homelessness, gang violence, and cyberbullying can have a devastating impact on physical, emotional, and mental well-being. If left unaddressed, trauma can significantly increase the risk of chronic physical health conditions (diabetes, high blood pressure and stroke), mental health conditions, substance abuse, and even death. Many people who face trauma are unaware of its lingering effects.

WE KNOW NEW IDEAS CAN COME FROM INSPIRED STUDENTS.

The Mission: Impact Challenge – Connected Community is calling all middle and high school students from Compton Unified School District to dream up solutions leveraging technology to quickly identify the signs and symptoms of those experiencing trauma and build a connected community for support and healing.

Student Teams Can Compete in Five Simple Steps:
  1. Form a team of 2-5 members
  2. Register your team through the school’s Staff Advisor
  3. Brainstorm how to best use technology to help those experiencing trauma and develop ways to support them
  4. Develop and submit a written proposal that includes identifying the problem, a solution using technology, how it works, and the potential impact
  5. Semi-Final teams will create and submit a three-minute video that explains the proposed solution

DESIGN THINKING WORKSHOP

All registered teams will attend an incredible Design Thinking Workshop where they will learn the Design Thinking process as well as hear from subject matter experts about the importance of addressing trauma.

Design Thinking is a methodology used to solve complex problems by using experimentation to find innovative solutions. Design Thinking includes five stages (define, ideate, prototype, test, and implement) and is solution-focused in creating a preferred future. A design mindset is not problem-focused, but rather solution-focused creating a preferred future.
