Erecting a memorial. Please add your piece.

Was I part of the solution in posting that? No. Did it feel good to post that good and satisfying? Absolutely. I was feeling a little angry, and that's what I put out there. Realizing I wasn't being part of the solution, I thought made me think, what can I do? What can we do as individuals to be part of the solution? I thought I'd like to build a Memorial

This is for Trayvon Martin, who was 17 years old when he was shot and killed by George Zimmerman, who was later acquitted of all charges

Danny, since this is a Memorial on equality, I want to add one about equality of justice in most parts of the world, including the US. The act of rape, the onus is on the woman to prove really that it was rape, and it was not consensual. In many countries, the police refuse to even investigate a claim of rape. And even in the US, rape claims are very difficult to prosecute. So my Memorial is not in the spirit of equality of justice

#freddieGray #georgeFloyd when will it end ?

Anyway. Horrible death. And it sparked an incredible consciousness in Baltimore that hopefully the George Floyd incident. It's unfortunate to pass the torch in this horrific way, but maybe this will be different. I don't know. I'm putting them both up here. Thanks

Thank you for your additions to this Memorial. And thank you for for the memories that that go with these names. I'm happy that this Memorial was not just a list of names, but it's a collection of memories up to now. So thanks for providing some memories of the circumstances behind these sacrifices. And also Suda contributed a very important women's issue. And so now I see some collaboration in the Memorial between different movements, seemingly separate but not but certainly connected. And so I appreciate that

Thanks, Danny, for this heartfelt thread that you created. I'd Luke to respond to it and add to it with a Memorial to all the people, the young people and the black people who have been killed by white people in racists murder and lynchings whose names we don't know because there's a lot more of them than the ones that we do. And yeah, I'd like to set up a Memorial in our hearts for them

Unknown Soldiers

And I can only imagine the number of people that have suffered at the hands of racism, wedding or unwitting that we don't know about. It's got to be an incredibly high number in every town, almost probably every town in this country. At least I find that less now that people are less likely to say offending things and assume that I'm of the same mindset

R.I.P. Devonte Hart

Hello. Hello. My name is Timothy Call, and I was invited to participate in this tribute by my oldest friend Danny, and I appreciate that very much. Would like to talk about a 15 year old boy named Devante Hart. We don't know if Devante is dead or alive. We do know that last year his adoptive mother killed everyone else in the family. Devante's body is the only body that wasn't found at the moment, Devante is listed as missing

Rolling Stone insta doing strong memorial

Wow. Thank you for adding that one. It's keeping that memory alive. It's that story is just unfathomable. I know parts of that story. I don't know the whole story. So I really appreciate that post. I just wanted to mention mentioned that I noticed this morning I haven't been watching Instagram very closely, but I did cruise it this morning and noticed that Rolling Stone is posting a Memorial or many memorials on their feedback victims in there and shortly mentioning their stories

I just heard the news that Roger Goddell, the Commissioner of the NFL, made a statement acknowledging that the NFL was wrong to forbid its players from taking a knee during the national anthem at the start of NFL games. And he also affirmed the NFL's support of reform in the police system. And I'm paraphrasing, but it just gives me incredible hope on top of hope that we're going to see some real change as a result of the sacrifices that these black American brothers and sisters have made

First Nations and Black women - poetry tribute

Broken bowed head and lowered eyes Shoulders falling down like teardops weakened by my soulful cries Does my hauntedness offend you don't you take it awful hard because I laugh like I've got goldmines digging in my own backyard you may shoot me with your words you may cut me with your eyes you may kill me with your hatefulness but still like air I'll rise Does my sexiness upset you? Does it come as a surprise that I dance like I've got diamonds at the meeting of my thighs?

To continue out of the huts of history Shame I rise up from a past that's rooted in pain I rise I'm a black ocean leaping and wide and swelling I bear in the tide leaving behind nights of terror and fear I rise into a Daybreak that's wondrously clear I rise bringing the gift that my ancestors gave I the dream and the hope of the slave I rise I rise I rise

I would also like to celebrate and honor Marsha P. Johnson, who was an incredible civil rights leader and advocate for gay and trans rights. And along with Marcia, I want want to say thank you and bring awareness to all of the activists and advocates who are still working towards the rights, dignity and safety for all people, regardless of gender identity
