Process within creativity

article image placeholderUploaded by @Binati_Sheth
So, process before creativity. The secret to creating art, in my opinion, which stands the test of time, is spending years and years and years developing a process instead of focusing on triggering creativity

And some of the best work comes up from there. And so it's important we make this differentiation as to what end are we talking about creativity. But like I said, when in doubt, I agree we probably fall back on some process, otherwise we will always land up, you know, where we start. And without a definitive end, we might reach a destination which we don't want to. So great, interesting. Swell. Thanks so much for sharing

I have seen some people who are not at all in the artistic industries, but the PowerPoint presentations they have made are so on fleet like Chef's case perfection. Their experience, their expertise with that, it shows the slides that they have made, which is nothing but white slide with black text with maybe some accent brand color thrown in the background. The selection that they have done right, that process, that is where creativity lies in my opinion

I've come across endless writeups on optimizing one's creative process, almost as if it were a rule of thumb that, once followed, can open us up to inspiration and result in some brilliant ideas. And let me be honest, I did try to put a method to my madness planning writing schedules and trying my best to stick to them

@Ramya I think acquired processes and actual processes are two different things. I am talking about actual - the alignment between conscious and subco

Creativity is what happens when your subconscious and conscious mind align with each other. What I mean by that is unconscious. Subconscious mind is where the ideas, the dreams, the visions, the connections between seemingly unconnected things happen, which is what makes some work so profound, right? The connections, that is the work of the subconscious. Then there's the conscious, which is what we use to comprehend and understand things

For example, I was gazing at a tree brawl one day in the morning and suddenly I got so many thoughts everything made sense. It was not a glamor but every thought was important. And as soon as I got there I took my mobile, opened note app and started jotting ideas that culminated in a detailed poetry or a prose. In fact, some of my best works like stories in anthology have come just like that

You know what works for you, which is why you are able to create this amazing poetry and you are able to see the moment you saw it, you had the inspired thought, you opened your notes app, you jotted it down and then you converted it. That is your process

There has to be a method to the madness. And so I wholeheartedly agree with you, Bennett, that process would actually enhance creativity and bring a sort of I wouldn't say discipline, but you don't lose out on all those ideas that came in in the first place. If you are capturing them somewhere, and as you said, if it's a question of these coming and flowing in at the moment, it becomes all the more important to track them. Very, very interesting and enriching discussion

I always rely and sometimes I'm so envious of your ability to do this because I definitely don't possess it and I would so love to. So if you ever do a course on something like this, definitely let me know. I'll be the first person to purchase a seat on that course. Thank you so much

We are talking about creativity for content creators whose job is to create content for a particular audience on a particular subject, who probably earned their bread by creating content. So in that case, in the case of content creators who are working with a specific objective, I would say process is required

I used to say before, I think you got it perfect here. When you say process within creativity, this is exactly what I've been trying to tell to people, but I never saw the word right. Brilliant. Thank you so much. There's so much would love to say and I'd actually be repeating myself. And given how you have heard all the previous sales, I don't want to do that

In fact, even your earlier title made sense, which was Process Before Creativity. It did put Process before creativity, as in, you know, made process feel more important than creativity. And I think that is why some of us felt that probably a lot of weight is being given to process and not so much to creativity, whereas you didn't mean that. But I think both titles are nice, and what is nicer is Your Swell, which talked about this

This is why I love swell. You know, honestly, it is a great place to a B test ideas, because sometimes the thing is so clear in your head, but then when it comes to translating your idea, you struggle. So I think that's what you did for me. You helped me refine a statement and a belief I've held internally, but I have never managed to put words to it. And you did that for me. So thank you so much for the same

And probably I'm going to be a better listener now on and of course, you're welcome on all My swells. And I will try to keep a track of all your swells and make sure that I'm listening to them and hopefully I'm replying to all of them. Bye
