Know Thyself First

Know Thyself First

When a person is ready to feel more satisfied, less exhausted, and in more control, it is usually an indicator that clarity is needed to design the right path of action and change. Most of us don’t love change, even when we want it. This is why people stay in the same stagnant job or relationship for years, when on the inside, they want desperately to live a better and more fulfilling life.

If this is you, you are not alone. With the right structured process, you can gain the clarity to accept, change and design the rest of your life. Our philosophy is to give you the tools to do “deep work, fast.” Because when you are ready, why wait?

The first step is a discovery process that will:

  • uncover who you “really” are at this point in your life

  • clarify what is significant to you and your desires

  • identify what is currently working and what is not

The result of this discovery is a knowing of your authentic self, versus a version of you that has been highly influenced and controlled by the opinions and expectations of others.

The process involves acknowledging emotions, values, and beliefs, and being honest with yourself about what you want. All of this is revealed when you answer questions such as:

  1. What are the best memories of your life and how do you believe they shape your current life and identity?

  2. What do you believe is most important in your life?

  3. Who and what do you hold dear and value?

  4. What three “hand me down” core beliefs, taught to you by adults when you were young, are still active in your life today?

  5. What situations in your past and current life make you uncomfortable, potentially causing you to pretend they didn’t happen?

  6. What are your beliefs about work, career, and success? Where did you acquire these success criteria and goals?

  7. What aspirations do you hold and desire to move towards, but don’t believe are possible at this moment?

  8. What feelings do you have frequently, but tend to reject or avoid?

  9. What are your biggest flaws, quirks, or weaknesses? What do you tell yourself about each of these?

I don’t recommend you attempt to answer all these questions in one session. Knowing and accepting all parts of you is a process that deserves respect and is most useful and meaningful when allowed to unfold over time.

This period of reflection and self-discovery will have numerous benefits, including:

  • Elevated self-esteem: When you accept yourself, you will feel more confident and worthy, regardless of others' opinions.

  • Genuine connections: Authenticity allows you to connect with others on a deeper level and build meaningful relationships based on trust and respect, all because you will trust and respect yourself.

  • Reduction of stress: Pretending to be someone you are not can be exhausting and stressful. Being authentic will relieve you of this burden and make you feel more comfortable in your skin.

  • Inspiring others: When you show your genuine self, you will inspire others to do the same and create a ripple effect of authenticity.

If this resonates with you and you want to extend your discovery, I’ve designed a self-paced course, The Real You Tool Kit, to accelerate your ability to integrate new thinking, make different decisions, and ultimately, create the life you want.
